Divine Assistance Can Come in Surprising Ways

The Angel and the Blender

Angels will help with anything…just not always the way we want them to.

I used to think that angels and other divine beings were too busy to be bothered with things that weren’t life or death. Since my life was mostly devoid of life or death issues, I didn’t have much of a relationship with angels, or the divine, for that matter.

What I’ve come to understand is that those in the higher realms, particularly those in the non-physical, are master multitaskers. Pure consciousness is unlimited.

What this means is that we can ask for, or pray for, literally anything. This does not, however, mean that we’re going to get it, or get it in the way we’re hoping to.

It’s like a little kid in the store saying, “I want that toy, and that game, and candy worms, and those fireworks, and…” Even if Mom can afford to buy everything he wants, she’s not going to. Most of it’s not good for him, nor would it serve him to have it all handed to him so easily.

When we ask for help, the divine always hears us. If what we ask for serves the greater good, they’ll send it winging our way, and then it’s up to us to receive what’s coming. But that requires a lot of patience, and a belief in miracles that few of us have, along with the acceptance that what we asked for is unlikely to come in the way we want it to.

Years ago, when I was part of that psychic support group that I accidentally found myself in, one of the mother-daughter duos told a story that stuck with me. The daughter is clairvoyant and sees angels clearly.

One day, the pair were struggling to move a heavy piece of furniture up the stairs in their house, and one of them called out to the angels for help, because…why not?

Moments later, the daughter saw one of the archangels appear on the stairs, lean in, and begin to help them push. Suddenly, the piece of furniture moved easily, and they carried it into the bedroom without difficulty.

I thought of this amazing story, recently, when I needed a little angelic help of my own. Yep, with my Nutribullet blender (that contraption in the picture accompanying this post).

This particular day, I’d put together the, mostly frozen, ingredients for my smoothie, screwed on the blade assembly lid, then flipped it upside down to place it onto the blender base to blend it. Unfortunately, I’d failed to add enough liquid for it to blend properly.

I now had two choices. I either had to screw off the lid and add more liquid (not a big deal), or…and I thought I was being smart here…just wait a little while for the mixture to melt enough that it would blend as it was.

Choosing option number two, I set the timer for ten minutes, then tried again and it blended perfectly! (Don’t let anyone tell you I’m not using my engineering degree.)

However, when I went to unscrew the blade assembly lid, so that I could drink my now beautifully blended smoothie, the lid wouldn’t budge. Wouldn’t. Budge. It was like it had been glued on.

How on earth had I screwed on the lid so tight? I’d never had this problem before. I grabbed a silicone gripper, and tried again, but I still could not get it to loosen.

I stared at that beautiful, completely untouchable, smoothie. What to do, what to do?

I considered calling one of my neighbors to see if her husband could help, but I was pretty sure he was at work. Then I remembered the angelic assistance my friends had received with the furniture. Why not ask?

I sent out the call. “Hi beautiful angels! Help, please?” I envisioned a divine hand merging with mine and unscrewing the cap as I tried once more to open it. But…nope, nothing. I tried over and over, giving them a lot of opportunities, but nada.

Had I actually believed this would work, that I’d get my miracle? Probably not, which might have been part of the problem.

However, I did, actually, get the help I needed.

As I stared at that annoyingly stuck Nutribullet lid, a thought popped into my head, one-hundred percent divinely inspired, because suddenly I understood not only the problem, but the solution.

By letting the Nutribullet sit full of frozen smoothie for ten minutes, I’d allowed the plastic lid to get so cold that it had contracted. The simple solution: warm it up a bit so that it could expand again.

So I ran the lid under hot water for ten seconds and, sure enough, it opened right up.

Boy, was I relieved. I’d worried that I was going to have to take my smoothie out to the street to see if I could flag down help from a passing delivery guy. But the angels came through for me.

When we ask for help, the divine always offers it, if it’s in the highest good. But it’s often like the kid who says, “I want to be as strong as Dad,” and hears, “Then eat your spinach.”

Help comes in the way we need it to for our own growth and learning.

If I’d received the burst of miraculous strength I’d hoped for, I wouldn’t have learned my lesson about leaving the Nutribullet lid on too long. Or how to fix it, if I did.

In the end, I got my divine assistance, and a little lesson to boot. And my smoothie, which was delicious, by the way.
